Unshakeable: Holding on in Lockdown 3.0

Update #19 for JANUARY from the Mahabba Network

This January we leave behind a year like no other and simultaneously enter another lockdown, which seems all too familiar.

It’s a good time to remember that some things still remain. Some things are unshakeable.

This month we bring you a message from Steve Bell, one of Mahabba’s founding members, giving his reflections on 2020 and some vision and encouragement for 2021.

Looking Back

Steve reflects back on 2020, a ‘bruising year’ where society has had to evaluate our whole way of life - reconsidering our most basic values and priorities.

It is a timely reminder that as a network we can be interceding for more of the unshakeable to be known. That the hope of Jesus would be revealed to our Muslim neighbours.

And there certainly is hope to be found.

There is a vaccine - interestingly one of the Germany companies that have developed a vaccine was founded by Turkish immigrants. What a blessing to the world and reminder that God is working through Muslims.

For Mahabba this time highlights the power of grassroots networks like ours, as we are well placed to resource those in all different contexts, rather than relying on being able to gather together.

Looking Forward

As we look ahead to this year, Steve challenges us to think about the importance of the church being without walls. The challenges of this pandemic also bring opportunities to be a light that shines in all areas of our lives.

As a network focussed on resourcing and equipping all Christians, Mahabba’s work continues to be vital.

Mahabba’s work is like a mid-wife ministry, helping to deliver Muslims on a journey of faith in Christ and assisting churches and everyday Christians, whatever their context, to deliver that ministry as well.

One way we are looking to do this in 2021 is through our presence on social media platforms - bringing the Grace & Truth perspective, attitudes and actions into the public space.

Look out for more info in the coming months on ways that you can be involved.
