Action & impact: September update

As we enter a new academic year, we’re taking the opportunity to look at how your giving impacts the work of Mahabba.

During the autumn we will look at our four mission goals and how your support equips this vital work to happen.

This month, we see how your support enables us to Encourage Prayer: Helping to grow regular, persistent prayer for Muslims.

In Greater Manchester, the prayer group has been meeting online since the Covid-19 crisis began:

 “The amount of prayer was staggering. Every day there was a prayer meeting, with up to 15 people, using Prayercast and Lovefast.

We had an evening of prayer for the 'Night of Power' - organised in 24 hours - and now prayer is continuing twice weekly, at least.” 

Another group is taking the opportunity to start a new initiative, Faith Partners. They invite church and mosque leaders to connect, grow in understanding, care for each others’ needs and offer prayer.

Many similar prayer groups are continuing to meet and grow, around the UK.

“The prayer meeting online worked very well and we’ll be continuing for the foreseeable future. As we meet at 7.15am some find Zoom actually makes it easier to join in.”  

“Some who rarely attend were there. We worshipped, shared freely and split into break-out groups to focus in prayer.”  

“We are continuing to meet using Zoom and our numbers have gone up significantly!”  

Resources, like the Lovefast daily blogs and various training that Mahabba provides, equip many across the network to run prayer groups like these.

Encouraging Prayer is the foundation of what we do.

Prayer leads to relational connections between Christians and Muslims.

Prayer helps churches be welcoming to Muslim neighbours, work colleagues, and asylum-seekers.

Prayer opens up many opportunities to demonstrate and share about God’s love.

Your giving enables groups like these to happen.
