Christian Teachers of Islam
Workshop about current issues in the teaching of Islam: history and violence
11:00am - 5:00pm, Friday 15 September 2017
To take place alongside CRIB 2017 (see here for details)
This workshop is an opportunity for anyone engaged in teaching Islam in any context at any level - Bible colleges, schools, churches etc. - to come together for a practical workshop looking at:
- Teaching Islamic history including how we balance teaching the Muslim narrative and the western critical approach
- Teaching Islam in the current context including how we address issues of violence and extremism whilst being true to the diversity of Islam
- How we learn from and with Muslims including how we decide who we engage with and how we ensure quality and rigour
The object is to encourage each other, share resources, get equipped and think strategically. This is also the day that the CRIB conference starts in the evening. So we hope that you will stay on and join us for the weekend.
