Dr Karamat Iqbal In Conversation: with Revd John Ray OBE

Dr Karamat Iqbal In Conversation: with Revd John Ray OBE

Tuesday 29th June at 7 pm to 8.30 pm.

John shares with us his life of adventure. After a stint teaching at Gordonstoun, and, following the death of a friend in a climbing accident, he goes to Pakistan where he encounters a very different culture. Following a state of loneliness and friendship with a missionary he encounters Jesus. He is then called to Kashmir, as Headmaster at the Tyndale Biscoe School, where hippies, chief ministers, bishops and ordinary people are a part of the drama.

His next step is with the Church in Sparkbrook, Birmingham, in the pre Trojan Horse days. Both in Kashmir and in Britain he and his wife Catherine, a medical doctor, have known intimately those who have made the journey from within Islamic cultures to Christ. He then has one more culture shock, by relocating to the green and pleasant land of a Yorkshire village, where he is awaiting his next
assignment.

Karamat Iqbal is of Pakistani Muslim background and a follower of Christ for the past 25 years. He worships at Riverside Church in Birmingham. His current focus is researching and writing about the British Pakistani community.
