Christmas update

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
— John 1:14 (NIV)

What better time to share the love of Jesus with our Muslim neighbours than at Christmas? The very heart of Mahabba is that we would demonstrate Jesus’ grace and truth so that all Muslims would experience the knowledge of his wonder and love. This December your support enables events and outreach work to happen across Mahabba. Many in the network find they are able to share Jesus’ love more openly with their Muslim friends during this season. There are ideas and stories on the blog for how we can welcome Muslims into the celebration of Christmas.

Living in Grace & Truth: Reading

Our Reading gathering brought together many network supporters for a time of teaching, encouragement, story-sharing and prayer. Here’s an update from one the attendees:

At a Mahabba regional gathering in Reading last month, we affirmed the need to initiate and look for signs of grace in what we do; and how we do it. One sign was a lady just sitting with Muslim friends in mourning, which drew her into the status of ‘extended family’. Another was when Muslim leaders were proud to be identified publicly with a Mahabba group.

Look out for more regional gatherings happening around the UK in 2020.

Seeing Angels: Woking

On Saturday 7 th December, Woking hosted an International Carol Service. Readings, prayers and carols were sung in different languages and there was the sense of a glimpse of heaven as people from many tribes, tongues, peoples and nations worshipped and celebrated Jesus together.

Pray…

  1. For the Mahabba Haslingden outreach. For the women and children who have been connecting with this – that the Urdu literature they have received will grow their interest and that significant connections will develop

  2. For ongoing discipleship for Muslims who have come to faith and been baptised. That they would continue to know the joy of following Jesus and those discipling them would be encouraged to help them keep growing in their faith. For more Christians to have a heart to disciple Muslims and be involved in this work

  3. For Kashmir and the ongoing conflict. That there would be community cohesion amongst the Indian and Pakistani (Kashmiri) community

  4. For Iran and the continuing spread of the gospel. That believers would be strengthened and the current shut down of the internet would be lifted so that Christians would no longer be isolated

  5. For all Mahabba groups as they plan to celebrate Jesus and share his love with their Muslim neighbours this Christmas. Pray for Mahabba in 2020: that this would be a year where we see God open more doors for us to share grace and truth with Muslims, in many places, in all spheres of society

Continue to help Mahabba

You support is vital in continuing the work of Mahabba. Thank you for all you have helped us achieve in 2019. Why not take the opportunity this Christmas to share with your small group, friends, family or church, about your involvement with Mahabba and how the network is showing Christ’s love for all Muslims.

From all at Mahabba, we pray that you will know the joy of Jesus this Christmas!
